Underage Student Registration Policy

Whenever possible Moraine Park Technical College enrolls students of all ages that adhere to Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction education statutes and policies (1989 Wisconsin Act 24 (July 1989), Wisconsin Statute 38.22(1s)(d)), and 2015 Wisconsin Act 55 (July 2015)). Moraine Park Technical College does not discriminate based on age.

Academic programs may possess age criteria for admission based on licensing/certification requirements. All students who seek to enroll at Moraine Park Technical College are subject to published course prerequisites and program admission requirements.

The minimum age for undergraduate course enrollment is 16 years of age as of the start date of the course. Students in high school contracted classes or certain other legislated high school dual credit programs are excluded from this policy. For program applicants under 18 years of age who have not yet graduated from high school and are desiring to take in person or hybrid classes which meet during their regularly scheduled school hours, written permission must be obtained from the student’s parents or guardians and the student’s school principal or school district designee. Homeschool students are excluded from this restriction. Those 16 years of age or over who have not yet graduated from high school may attend in person or hybrid classes held at times outside of their regularly scheduled school hours.

Students under 16 years of age may take non-credit courses for personal enrichment if accompanied by a parent and/or guardian.
