What is a Scholarship?
A scholarship is a sum of money provided by a generous person, family, business or organization that is awarded to a student in order to help him or her further his or her education. Unlike a student loan, scholarships are gifts that don’t need to be paid back. There are two types of scholarships at Moraine Park Technical College – Moraine Park Foundation scholarships and outside scholarships.
Moraine Park Foundation scholarships are possible because of generous gifts from alumni, Moraine Park employees, businesses, service clubs, and friends of the College who believe in higher education and making Moraine Park affordable to students. The Foundation provides students more than $300,000 annually, with awards ranging from $250 to $3,500. A list of Foundation Scholarships can be found here.
The Berger Bag Fund and President's Circle Textbook Scholarship are grants administered by the Moraine Park Foundation, Inc. for the purpose of providing financial assistance to Moraine Park Technical College students who might otherwise have difficulty in purchasing required books and academic supplies. Please complete the application and at least one GradReady Course to be eligible for this funding. The application provides instructions on what to provide to show you completed a new course (if applied in previous semesters). Incomplete applications will be returned and not be considered until all documents are received.
