Moraine Park Technical College updates programs and course content frequently. Transfer credit, as well as Moraine Park Technical College credit (including dual credit), may be subject to age limits. Moraine Park Technical College’s goal pertaining to this procedure is to ensure that students with transfer or older courses have the same opportunity for program success as all other students. An up-to-date list of Moraine Park’s courses with age limits is housed in the Student Records office. Moraine Park will review and update the course list annually.
New or returning program student transcripts will be evaluated for courses that are older than three or five years (depending on program requirement) for Moraine Park credit in their current program. New or returning program student transcripts will be evaluated for courses that are older than three or five years (depending on program requirement) for Moraine Park credit with additional supporting evidence. Examples of evidence might include a current resume, course syllabus, and course description. Requests will be referred for review by the Credit for Prior Learning Specialist. Submitted documentation is reviewed by the Associate Dean for the program area. If the request is denied, the student may opt to pursue the standard Credit for Prior Learning processes. Students should consult with the Credit for Prior Learning Specialist for current courses eligible for the Credit for Prior Learning processes.
This process may also apply to current Moraine Park students who do not complete program requirements within five years of matriculation. In some instances, the student may be moved to a new curriculum (catalog year). This practice is in alignment with procedures outlined in the College Catalog pertaining to graduation requirements:
A student must meet all program competency and course requirements as listed in the online program catalog at the time of matriculation or within five (5) years of matriculation. In the event a student does not complete the program requirements within the five-year limit, the student’s program curriculum changes to the current academic year program requirements. Students not enrolled in at least one (1) program-required course at Moraine Park for twelve (12) continuous months will be required to meet the graduation requirements of the online program catalog in effect for the academic year the student re-enrolls.
All decisions related to credit and course equivalencies are final.
