Gain a credential for working with preschool-aged children with the Early Childhood Preschool Credential certificate.

About the Program

Designed for those working with children ages 3-5, the Early Childhood Preschool Credential certificate provides a solid foundation of child care education. This credential may be beneficial for those working as family child care providers, child care teachers or preschool teachers.

This program is geared toward those wanting to provide a quality learning environment to young children.

All the Early Childhood Preschool Credential Certificate classes are directly transferable into the Child Care Services technical diploma and/or Early Childhood Education associate of applied science degree if students wish to continue their education.

What You'll Learn

Students in this program will gain specialized training to work with preschool-aged children, learn how to support the development of language skills and learn strategies to successfully manage a preschool classroom. Those who successfully complete the credential have strong knowledge of child development and guiding behavior. Students also explore arts, music, health, safety and nutrition.

Students are required to prepare a portfolio at the end of this course. Students will then submit the portfolio to the instructor, who will award the certificate. Students may also apply to the Wisconsin Registry for the Wisconsin Professional Preschool Credential.

Program students who obtain the Preschool Credential from the Wisconsin Registry will obtain the Wisconsin Registry Career Level 10. The Wisconsin Registry promotes professional growth and verifies the education, training and experience vital to quality care for the Wisconsin childhood care and education workforce.

Scholarships for the Early Childhood Preschool Credential Certificate are available through the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA) T.E.A.C.H. program.
