Age Requirements for Undergraduate Courses
- Students must be a minimum 16 years of age by the course start date to attend an undergraduate-level course. (High school students taking courses that are contracted through their high school or other legislated dual credit program are excluded from this restriction.)
- Students 16-17 years of age who are currently in high school may attend in person or hybrid courses held outside of their regularly scheduled school hours.
- Students 16-17 years of age who are currently in high school or dropped out of high school AND have been admitted to an MPTC program, may attend in person or hybrid courses held during their regularly scheduled school hours if they submit written permission from their parent/guardian and their high school principal/district designee. (Homeschool students are excluded from this restriction.)
Age Requirements for Non-Credit Courses (Personal Enrichment)
- Students 16-17 years of age by the course start date may attend a non-credit course for personal enrichment.
- Students under 16 years of age, and their parent/guardian, must complete the Request to Attend Classes & Registration Form during open registration. (Go to Register for Classes and follow instructions for Students Under 16).
Policy AP 707: Underage Student Registration
This policy applies to all students under age 18 intending to take courses at Moraine Park Technical College.
Whenever possible Moraine Park Technical College enrolls students of all ages that adhere to Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction education statutes and policies (1989 Wisconsin Act 24 (July 1989), Wisconsin Statute 38.22(1s)(d)), and 2015 Wisconsin Act 55 (July 2015). Moraine Park Technical College does not discriminate based on age.
Academic programs may possess age criteria for admission based on licensing/certification requirements. All students who seek to enroll at Moraine Park Technical College are subject to published course prerequisites and program admission requirements.
The minimum age for undergraduate course enrollment is 16 years of age as of the start date of the course. Students in high school contracted classes or certain other legislated high school dual credit programs are excluded from this policy. For program applicants under 18 years of age who have not yet graduated from high school and are desiring to take in person or hybrid classes which meet during their regularly scheduled school hours, written permission must be obtained from the student’s parents or guardians and the student’s school principal or school district designee. Homeschool students are excluded from this restriction. Those 16 years of age or over who have not yet graduated from high school may attend in person or hybrid classes held at times outside of their regularly scheduled school hours.
Students under 16 years of age may take non-credit courses for personal enrichment if accompanied by a parent and/or guardian.
