Overview
Individuals who are NOT a U.S. citizen or permanent resident must meet all International Admission Requirements in order to be admitted to a program of study (one-year technical diploma, two-year technical diploma, or associate degree).

- To begin classes during the Fall Term (August):
- May 1 – Your admission application must be submitted by this date.
- June 1 – All admission materials must be received and processed by MPTC no later than this date.
- To begin classes during the Spring Term (January):
- International Students typically do not start a program in spring unless the program allows summer enrollment.
- September 1 – Your admission application must be submitted by this date.
- October 1 – All admission materials must be received and processed by MPTC no later than this date.
Policy AP 702: International Student Admissions
This policy applies to international students interested in physically coming to the United States to study at Moraine Park Technical College utilizing a student (F-1) visa.
Moraine Park Technical College will admit International Students interested in entering a one-year or two-year technical or associate degree programs providing they meet all International Admissions requirements.
Restrictions
- International Students are not eligible to apply for programs that have a waiting list process for core courses.
- International Students are not eligible to apply for certificate programs or technical diploma programs that are less than one year in length.
- International Students are not eligible to apply for programs that are more than 50% online.
- The normal cycle to process these documents and records is four to six months, which makes early planning crucial. Application Deadlines for International Students are as follows: May 1 for Fall; September 1 for Spring.
- International Students typically may not start a program in the Spring semester, unless their program choice allows for summer enrollment.
- International Students must be enrolled full time.
- International Students with an F1 visa are allowed to take online classes; however, only three credits of online course work count toward the full-time (12 credits) requirement in a given semester.
- International Students are not eligible for financial assistance or work-study opportunities while pursuing their education at Moraine Park.
Procedure PR 702.01: International Student Admissions
This procedure outlines requirements for international student admission to programs at Moraine Park Technical College.
International students interested in entering a one-year or two-year technical or associate degree program at Moraine Park Technical College need to complete the following admission requirements:
- Complete an application. Submit a one-time, non-refundable application fee.
- Submit the International Student Information and Financial Documentation Form.
- Submit an official high school and college (if applicable) transcript. (Documents must be translated into English. Any credential evaluation must be completed by a reputable vendor).
- Demonstrate proof of proficiency in the English language via the TOEFL. Testing is not available at Moraine Park. Information about TOEFL testing is available at Educational Testing Services. TOEFL minimum score requirements are:
- TOEFL Internet Based Test (IBT) prior to January 21, 2026 Minimum Score = 61
- TOEFL Internet Based Test (IBT) after to January 21, 2026 Minimum Scale Score = 3.5
- Provide letter(s) from sources of financial support indicating availability of funds to cover annual cost of tuition, books and supplies, room and board, and miscellaneous expenses while studying at Moraine Park.
- Submit evidence of medical insurance while residing in the United States.
Additional admission steps may be required for some programs. Information will be provided to applicants via email/phone/US Postal Service after application is processed. International students applying for a program that requires a criminal background check are responsible for any fees regarding international criminal background checks. These fees vary based upon the student’s home country.
Upon acceptance and arrival on campus, international students will need to complete the Accuplacer placement assessment.
Applying for a Student (F-1) Visa
When all admissions requirements have been satisfied and acceptance into an MPTC program has been granted, the Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 will be issued by the Registrar’s Office. Students should present the following documents to the nearest US embassy or consulate in their country for processing:
- The original, signed I-20 form documenting college acceptance.
- A copy of the statement of financial support submitted during the admissions process.
